Community Service & Outreach

Cross cares for its community

Cross is regularly and actively engaged in service and care for our larger community. While many such opportunities exist, these especially are lifted up:

Holiday Food Baskets Food baskets will typically be provided for 8-12 families. (Sign-ups for bringing donations will be held several weeks before.) To suggest a family for a basket, please call the church office. During the Christmas season, special monetary collections will enable Cross to provide gift cards to a number of families as well.

MCREST (Macomb County Revolving Emergency Shelter Team) One week each year, Cross hosts about 30 MCREST guests. These homeless individuals and families are housed, fed, transported, and generally given a safe haven for the week that we host them. Over 100 volunteers help with food preparation, meal serving, laundry, dispensing meds and bus tickets, staying overnight, and transporting children to schools and adults to such places as jobs and doctor's appointments. Penny & Clarence Van Haverbeck coordinate this very large project.

Adopt-A-Road clean-up along Utica Road, Blood Drives, and Habitat for Humanity "builds" are other regular service events involving many people at Cross.
